Omega wolf Jon can’t stop thinking about the gorgeous Greek god in human skin who saved him from his abusive ex. Everyone knows the Winter brothers, especially Cade, don’t date. The attraction between them is instantaneous but, for some reason, Cade’s insistent on keeping his distance. When the ice finally breaks, Jon’s past comes back to haunt him, threatening the fragile bonds he’s built with Cade.
Dominant wolf Cade was a soldier, part of a special ops team composed entirely of shifters. And yet, Jon proves to be a bigger challenge than PTSD. From the moment they meet, Cade instantly knows Jon is his mate. He’s never had a problem finding guys to warm his bed, but he’s scared of screwing up his chances with Jon. Jon’s too good for him, but Jon claims they’re two damaged souls who are meant to be.
Can they conquer their private demons and make a future for themselves as mates?
I was super excited to jump into this second book in Fel Fern's newest series, 'Howling Wolf'. I so enjoyed Devlin and Saz's story plus it gave me a look at the other three brothers, so naturally I wanted to read more. I adore the idea of these four guys taking over their family's bar after their dad died and working so hard to make it succeed.
Jon is Saz's cousin and from the same repressed, outdated pack that keeps its omegas as nothing more than broodmares. Now that John is away from his abusive ex and living in Green Creek, he's trying to find a job - having no experience - and sleep through the nightmares that plague him of his ex finding him. Cade knows all about nightmares after his service in special forces left him with bad PTSD and memories of ghosts that haunt him. Granted, thoughts of Jon aren't helping matters, either.
I find it hilarious that much like his older brother, Dev, Cade is just as confused and unwilling to listen to his wolf as it declares Jon their mate. Jon knew immediately, or at least, his wolf knew that Cade was their mate. Of course, once the Winter brothers figure things out, it doesn't take them long to claim what is rightfully theirs.
I really enjoyed Cade and Jon's story although I was a little disappointed in the similarities to Dev and Saz's in terms of Jon's ex coming back to cause trouble. But since Saz and Jon are cousins from the same pack, I suppose these plots make sense. Cade and Jon are super hot together and their romance was incredibly sweet.
