Book Review

Could anyone, possibly, not read a book titled 'Butt Ninjas From Hell'? My husband almost choked to death he was laughing so hard, and then he was thrilled that someone had written a book with such a great title. And I agree. The fact that the anthology is packed full of wonderful authors doesn't hurt a bit. *grins*

Clean Up On Aisle Me! by Shae Connor
Jonny is having a few very strange happenings at Partyville where he works. Ninjas keep appearing and disappearing. Then, a strange creature appears and the ninjas take care of it while securing and protecting Jonny in the break room. Jonny isn't sure whether he needs a white jacket or a lobotomy. When he finds himself attracted to one of the ninjas, Bert, and Jonny gets the story about demons from hell, literally, it's almost too crazy to not be real. Of course Jonny is interested in joining this crazy group and exploring his attraction with Bert.

What a fantastic beginning to this anthology! There was craziness, sexiness, and the author left it on a bit of a potential cliffhanger, and I, for one, would love to see more. I thought Jonny with his quirky sense of humor and Bert with his dry wit were perfect together. Thank you, Shae.

Sheathing his Sword by J.P. Barnaby
I, personally, would find it difficult to keep a straight face on a porn set. The dialogue is, almost always, pretty cheesy and I wouldn't be able to stop the giggles. If, however, I was filming in the director’s apartment, and it was a rather hot sex scene, and the doorbell rang, and it turned out to be the director's dad who doesn't know what his son does for a living…well, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to hold it in. This is the situation Aiden and Nicky find themselves in. The fact that Nicky took a little chemical aid and now he's in serious pain isn't helping matters. At all.

Picture this: the cameraman and two gay porn stars are hiding out in the kitchen. Nicky is in serious pain and needs relief. They're all trying to be quiet but they're getting the giggles while they listen to Todd's dad tell him his mother filed for divorce. I wouldn't have made it. I'd have gone out the window to the fire escape. Excellently funny addition to this book and since the author has many close friends in the adult entertainment industry it makes me wonder whether parts of this are true? Thank you for the laugh, J.P.!

Twink Ninja Tiger, Flaxen Buns of Fury by Kage Alan
This is my first experience with a Kage Alan story and within a few pages I had already snorted water I was laughing so hard. This author has a wonderfully dry, sarcastic wit which makes it seem as if the story is serious, but in essence, it's a giant comedic illusion. Sort of Monty Python like.

Meet Masters Mustache and Beard. They are the ninja masters who oversee the Butt Ninjas’ secret facility and all training. Meet Ashton, the unexpectedly young emissary from the Church who has come to perform the ninjas’ inspection, so to speak. This is a problem. Ashton is not Father Leviticus who is eighty-five and doesn't inspire any lustful thoughts. Ashton is young and gorgeous. As Master Mustache says "We're seriously fucked. Our ancestors are fucked, our students are fucked, and their ancestors are fucked." Ashton really shakes the joint up, first by actually saying "that which must not be named" and the unfortunate acronyms—A.N.A.L.R.O.D. and J.I.Z.Z. The scene with Ashton and the students in the bath area had me laughing so hard I scared the cats.

This story was insanely funny and I absolutely loved it! I will most definitely have to read more of this author. Thank you, Kage.

Twerk It by Ally Blue
Demon slaying. Mwahaha! And, the agency responsible is Ninjas Killing Evil Demons, or NKED! Too bad that when Hugo, the demon slayer, finds L'lousche, minor demon of sex and mischief, there is way too much hot lust between them to finish the job. Well, the slayer job, that is. *grins* Something hinky is definitely going on, though, for why would someone hire a slayer to go after a minor demon? Now Hugo and L'lousche team up to get to the bottom of it. The contract, that is. *snort*

What a great addition to this anthology! I loved the world building the author did and would definitely enjoy seeing more of it. Thank you, Ally.

Hell Is Where The Heart Is by Eden Winters
Vik is the only son of the ruler of the sixth level of hell. His mother is quite the force to be reckoned with and he's hidden the fact that he's gay his whole life, over two centuries. But now Mommy Dearest is demanding he bring a mate home and he has one earth day to comply. Vik's mother is yearning for little granddemons bouncing through on their cloven hooves. Huh.

Vik heads to a costume party in Las Vegas and meets Dillon, a ninja. Vik takes him back to his place assuming Dillon is a demon, also. He said he was from Cleveland, for crying out loud. A night of seriously incendiary sex occurs, pun totally intended, and Vik wakes to discover Dillon is human but he knows about demons. Not only does he know about them, but Dillon offers to help Vik with his "mommy problem".

I totally adored Vik and Dillon. The author did a fantastic ending and the world building was wonderful. Thank you, Eden.

Ninja, Vanish! by Kiernan Kelly
The Rainbow Ninja Power Hour is a pretty popular daytime show but the four actors who star in it don't feel appreciated. Of course, they are starring in a Saturday morning kid's show on a third rate cable channel. In a fit of anger they state that they'd do anything to change their circumstances and, voilá, Asmodeus (Mo) the demon appears in their RV. He'll grant their wishes if they agree to be the new marketing faces for Hell. The only actor who actually goes through with signing the contract is Colt, the most outspoken of them regarding his lackluster career.

Colt ends up working with Mo, wearing a beautiful white ninja suit, crotchless, of course, and spends the next year appearing all over the world hyping Hell. It's not a bad gig, definitely not when you factor in the constant amazing sex he and Mo are having. It's not bad until Colt discovers he was actually hired to be the First Horseman of the Apocalypse. Uh-oh. Now it's up to Colt and a semi-reluctant Mo to save the world.

What an insanely funny and interesting story. I so enjoyed this and I thank you, Kiernan.

The Soldier And The Vagabond by Jevocas Green
A sweet tale of love, this is the short story of Tamotsu, the ninja warrior, and Kioshi, a young homeless vagrant. The warrior rescues the thief and from then on, Kioshi is fascinated with his savior until the day he follows him home. There, Tamotsu takes the young man as his own and vows to protect him always.

Thank you, Jevocas, for such a gentle story.

A Ninja Walks Into A Bar by T.C. Blue
Dallas is enjoying celebrating his twenty-third birthday with friends at a nice bar, when he's kidnapped by a gorgeous ninja, Ki, and taken to hell. Apparently Ki works for Lord Nikita and he wants Dallas. Ki is fairly surprised by Dallas, however, as he is far different from all the other humans Ki has brought here for his Lord. Dallas can see through Ki's glamour, and Dallas recognizes hell as a place he sees in his dreams.

The more time Ki spends with Dallas, the more feelings are evoked on both sides. Ki knows that no matter whether Dallas passes or fails Lord Nikita's tests, Dallas is never going home. He'll be killed and then his soul given to Nikita's soldiers as a plaything and Ki will never see him again. Ki can't go against his Lord's orders, though, or risk his own life. The showdown between Nikita and Dallas turns out to be nothing that Ki could've remotely imagined and I was thrilled with the way the story spun out and the revelations that were revealed.

Excellent addition to this anthology and I would love to see more of this world, please. An absolutely fantastic and very perfect final story in the book. Thank you, T.C.
