The danger that drew them together could send them over the edge…

Playing the role of enforcer in the Killers motorcycle club, all CIA operative Clint “Tomcat” Sommers has to do is make sure he has a body to show for his work. Thanks to his ability to move stealthily and easily between the two worlds, the CIA is damned close to making one of its biggest MC gang busts.

Two years undercover have taken their toll, but there’s no backing out now. Tomcat’s only reprieve from the pressure is fantasizing about the newest member of the gang.

Worry for his cousin’s involvement in the Killers drove Navy SEAL Jace Reynolds to agree to infiltrate the gang to do some short-term surveillance for the FBI. The deal: do the job, and his cousin gets witness protection. When he meets Tomcat, though, his fantasies kick into overdrive. Meeting men while on active duty is tough. Acting on his desires within the club could have deadly consequences.

Despite the risks, Tomcat’s and Jace’s off hours flare hotter than a full-throttle burnout. But the smoke is bound to attract unwanted attention. And when Tomcat suddenly disappears, the secrets both warriors keep could send one of them to the grave.

Book Review

Finally we get Tomcat's story! Ever after seeing glimpses of him in previous books I have been wondering what he is all about and whether he'd find love one day. This fourth book in the series finally gave me that story – and it's a double whammy – in more than one sense. Not only is the danger that binds Tomcat and Jace ever-present and increases by the page, there is also a second story, that of Jace's SEAL partner Sawyer and his commanding officer, Rex. The twists and turns and the secrecy kept me glued to my seat – and the passion in both couples' relationships is hot enough to make me wonder how they got away with hiding it from their various employers and agencies.

Tomcat is a tough guy, ex-Delta Force and totally dedicated to his work as a CIA agent. He wouldn’t admit that he's lonely if his life depended on it, but does occasionally wonder what life would be like with a partner. Seeing lots of his friends find happiness with the men of their dreams does make him wonder, but he's pretty sure that life isn’t for him. Then he runs into Jace, who is also an undercover agent in the motorcycle gang Tomcat has infiltrated, and his life turns upside down. Jace is as stubborn as he is, but Tomcat is the first to give in – sort of. Their relationship is often more like a tug of war than a love affair.

Jace is a tough SEAL, and a member of the motorcycle gang his cousin Kenny (and only surviving family member) has joined. Jace believes the deal he has with the FBI will protect Kenny when the sh*t hits the fan, but refuses to tell Tomcat what he's up to. Their relationship is rocky enough as it is, with all the secrecy and Jace trying to wrap his head around the fact he turns out to be submissive in bed. But his lack of truthfulness is what leads to eventual disaster when Tomcat discovers what's going on and a monumental mess ensues. Neither Jace nor Tomcat are sure they'll survive the fallout, but they have to try.

Sawyer, a fellow SEAL Jace works with closely, and Rex's story is a very prominent subplot, and it was fascinating to see how they dealt with their developing relationship. Sawyer thinks he's straight, but falls in love with Rex anyway. Not only is the man his commanding officer, but he's also a Dom, and Sawyer discovers submissive tendencies and needs he'd rather ignore. Of course, he can't, and the resulting back and forth between him and Rex, who has secrets and issues of his own, was a delicious addition to the book.

This book is super-intense. Full of tough men who want to be in charge all the time, or so they think, and filled with plot twists that will make your head spin, it is a great addition to the series. If you like thrillers involving military men and secret agents, if you enjoy a good undercover action/adventure with villains and traitors who will make your head spin, and if you're looking for hot and passionate relationships with a good deal of issue-solving on top, then you will probably like this book.
