There's one thing about having a “gift” – it's not something you can depend upon when it comes to yourself. Gifted people tend to second-guess any impressions they get, therefore getting conflicting results and can't trust themselves to interpret the information accurately. Ben, of ‘Blind Spot' by Jessie Pinkham, runs head-on into this problem. He can tell in a flash, with almost 100 percent accuracy, when two people are destined for each other. Yet for himself, nothing. It is very much like flying blind. Ben can't depend upon his abilities; he can't trust himself to know how things will go in a relationship so he avoids close relationships. Also, considering his parents’ horrible relationship and divorce, he's not in a hurry to find out. That has worked for Ben in the past, but he's conflicted about his friend, Isaiah, whom Ben loves hanging out with, as well as slipping between the sheets with. Ben is so used to just knowing when things are meant to be that he's almost traumatized by the fact that when he tries to “feel” how things will work with Isaiah, he is “blind”.

Isaiah is one of the few people who know about Ben's gift. Isaiah enjoys being with Ben more than anything, not just for the sex but for companionship, yet he is afraid to tell him how he feels for fear of messing up their friendship. Isaiah can't imagine not having Ben in his life, so when he falls in love with him, he keeps quiet. Isaiah is hurt that Ben won't commit just because he can't be sure of what will happen. Isaiah knows that Ben needs to make a decision as to whether or not he cares about Isaiah and that Isaiah is worth whatever may come, foreseeable or not.

This is a friends-to-lovers story with a paranormal twist. I have to say that I was impatient with Ben, and although I understand his reluctance, with how he felt about Isaiah should encouraged him to speak up sooner. There are a lot of steamy scenes which are great, but it was the matchmaking that caught my eye. I would like to have seen more demonstrations of Ben's gift. Also, I wish the story could have been longer so I could have watched the guys develop their relationship to the point that they are obviously headed. Thanks, Jessie, for reminding me that there are no guarantees in life and no chance at happiness unless I go for it.
