In Lick by Asta Idonea, Jay is unimpressed when his parents drag him on a seaside holiday to Bournemouth. However, the English summer heats up when he meets sexy ice cream seller Aland. In Pacific Rimming by Dale Cameron Lowry, Turning forty makes Mike feel old, so his husband, Ken, helps him recapture his youth in a ménage a trois with a gorgeous younger man. Can what started as a one-night stand transform into a threesome that lasts?

In Sea Salt & Chocolate by Lynn Townsend, Marriage is hard work, everyone knows that. Will a summer vacation lead to reigniting sparks between Eric and Temple, or will it tear their family apart? In Weekend Encounter by Jamie Lowe, Jackson may not be looking for romance during a weekend getaway with his friends, but that doesn’t mean romance isn’t looking for him. When Jackson encounters Logan, his plan to third wheel with his buddies is derailed in the best way possible. In Yin and Yang by Rob Rosen, An unexpected early morning encounter between a surfer and California newbie leads to much more than either ever expected along a deserted stretch of pristine beach. Love, it seems, is in the misty sea air!

Book Review

Beaches are very popular summer holiday destinations, and ‘Beach Rental’ contains a cornucopia of international choices from England to Canada and the US. Based on the entertainment value in all five of them, I’d say this short anthology, unsurprisingly, makes for excellent beach reading.

Lick by Asta Idonea
In this cute short story set in Bournemouth, UK, Jay is not happy about going on a family holiday with his parents and sister – after all he is twenty-one, not twelve. But then he goes for an ice cream, meets Alland, and suddenly the holiday becomes a lot more interesting. Jay’s initial resistance to a summer fling melts like snow in the Sahara when he finds out more about Alland.

A very enjoyable read that is entertaining, hot, and left me hopeful that Jay and Alland might have a shared future.

Pacific Rimming by Dale Cameron Lowry
A beach near Vancouver is the setting for this highly erotic tale about husbands Mike and Ken meeting Jason, a much younger man whom they are both attracted to. Jason is there for a wedding but finds them both interesting enough to agree to a further “meeting” – one for which clothing is definitely optional.

If you’re looking for a fun and scorching ménage that starts as a threesome but soon grows into more, then give this short story a try.

Sea Salt & Chocolate by Lynn Townsend
Temple is a hard-working professor, and when he finds out that someone has been eating the Hershey's kisses in his office, the ones that were a birthday present from his daughter, he is upset. Complaints don’t help either, so when he arrives home only to find that his husband, Eric, has booked a vacation on a North Carolina beach for them despite their tight budget – Temple is not happy.

If you believe that taking a vacation can help a family to reconnect, and if you’re looking for a fun read with a touch of heat and cute kids, then you might like this short story.

Weekend Encounter by Jamie Lowe
Unashamedly erotic, this story is about college junior Jackson who is on a brief trip with two friends for a change of scenery, so they drive to Virginia Beach. His friends are a couple, so Jackson intends to find his own fun. I was impressed with the speed at which he manages to connect with hotel employee Logan – a man who is very interested in what Jackson has to offer.

A quick romp between the sheets in a beach-like setting is what this story has to offer.

Yin and Yang by Rob Rosen
Full of surfer lingo –good and not-so-excellent alike, this is the tale of two horny young men meeting at a California beach. Steve has just driven all the way from Minnesota, has no idea how to surf, but tries to talk the best game he knows. The results are cringe-worthy, but hilarious. Chad is the local, and surfing is his life. The one thing they have in common is a need to get more closely acquainted…

Funny, hot, and full of hilarious phrases, this is an entertaining story with lots of man-on-man activity.
