Bailey Chambers mourns the loss of her lover, Nessa, in an unsolved carjacking. When Tommy, Bailey’s brother becomes a victim of a gay bashing, Bailey assumes his case will be handled the same way as her lover’s—lackadaisically.

Desi Dexter assigned to Tommy’s case, feels Bailey’s disdain toward her and her partner. Through tenacious police work, Desi, is able to uncover the reason for Bailey’s attitude, and convinces her that she is sincere in solving the case.

Mutual attraction sparks, and before they can move forward with their fledging romance, Desi, and her partner Braxton, uncover the presence of a serial killer.

What will happen to Bailey, when, Desi, becomes engrossed in another case, can their relationship survive?

Book Review

This book has an abundance of sweetness, good relationships, passion, and hardworking down-to-earth people. The story is set in Memphis, Tennessee. A good deal of the early action takes place in and around a gay bar called Club Fubar. There is also some great cookin' and chowing down happening throughout the entire book. However, best of all, is the perfectly beautiful melding of the two main women from the prickliest of starts, to a delightful hand in glove fit wrapped up in the complete wonderment of a fantastic love affair. There is a fine mystery that comes later, but even with that gem of an infusion, the love-filled romance literally swept me off my feet. Fantabulous!

Bailey Chambers is definitely one of the better cooks although her cousin is no slouch. Time and again she leaves friends and new acquaintances with a heavenly smile on their faces as they partake in one of Bailey's many homemade masterpieces. She also has a long memory and with that a major bone to pick with the Memphis PD, who clearly dropped the ball on solving a carjacking where her former lover was killed. She throws one amazing hissy fit, when a different police team attempt to question her about a brutal attack on her brother. Besides her blistering temper tantrum, some special sexual sparks fly between the female police detective and Bailey. Ah ha!

Detective Desi Dexter has the best comeback statement in the book when she says: "Oh dear Lord, will you marry me?" after tasting the first bite of Bailey's home made dinner virtuoso success. However, the rapidly heated interchanges have to be put on hold to allow the legal maneuvers to run their course involving the assault on Bailey's brother. The wear and tear and trials and tribulations of police procedures which have doomed Desi's earlier partnerships to wither are not only handled admirably by Bailey and Desi, they even heighten their rising emotional heat levels which is consummated at the earliest possible moment. Perfectamente!

There are a good many wonderful moments, tension-filled moments, and cuddly loving moments in this gratifying story. The title references Bailey Chamber's day job where she is a driver for Fed-Ex on one of their big rigs, delivering and retrieving two trailers on her run between Memphis and Nashville. So with more wondrous elements than heart stopping upheavals, those heart-in-throat scenes certainly add a really distinctive zing. There is nothing like a serial killer to bring the police force and the FBI into overdrive alert. Add a hero making traffic catastrophe sending folks back to the hospital hovering over another family member and this book concludes on some positively astounding high notes. I loved it and I highly recommend it!
