Book Blurb

As a professional escort, Ryan James’s job is to service his clients, be it simply to accompany them somewhere socially or to provide more intimate services.

Lately, Ryan has been feeling restless. He’s long overdue for a vacation, and when former client Patrick Armstrong asks Ryan to babysit his friend, Simon, who is suffering the aftermath of a bad breakup, Ryan jumps at the chance.

But what starts as a working vacation at Patrick’s country retreat in upstate New York takes a sudden and unexpected turn when Simon makes Ryan an offer he can’t refuse...

Book Review

Of all Ryan's adventures, interesting clients, and more or less bizarre situations he finds himself in, this latest "case" is certainly the psychologically most challenging. But not just because his client is in desperate need of some real help, but because Ryan himself is tempted to consider some changes. Not for the first time, I saw glimpses of it in some of the other books of the series, but this time is definitely different; more serious.

Ryan needs a vacation, so when an ex-client of his (Patrick from book two) asks for help for his friend Simon, to be given in a "remote location near Niagara Falls", Ryan readily accepts. As idyllic as the mansion turns out to be, the man Ryan is supposed to help is in really bad shape. With his usual compassion and willingness to listen rebuffed, Ryan hardens his stance, hoping to make Simon come around and see some sense.

Simon fell in love with the wrong man. His ex was mentally and physically abusive, calling himself a Dom, but behaving like a bully. He managed to beat all self-confidence out of Simon, and it takes some doing until he realizes Ryan is right, he has better things to do with his life. But Simon has no idea what to do now that he'll need a job again – until one thing leads to another and he and Ryan develop a surprising plan.

If you want to know what Ryan is up to and are ready for a major surprise a the end of this book, if you like reading about a psychologically damaged soul who desperately needs Ryan's brand of care, and if you're looking for a read that will make you smile with relief at the end of it, then you will probably enjoy this short story.
