Diego Champagne, Sergeant in Arms for the Louisiana Banni motorcycle gang, has grown up tough—half French, half Creole, and all male. Diego loves men but keeps his sex life on the down-low...until he meets Colby Young.
Colby carries his own baggage. He has his own reasons for not believing in love—reasons he doesn't share—and he sure as the devil doesn't like it when he's forced to accept help from anyone.
When Diego intervenes in a bar brawl during a motorbike rally and saves Colby and his best friend, Spider McGraw, leader of the rival gang Death Proof, it begins to look as if Colby and Diego are going to be joined at the hip. Somebody puts a hit out on Colby, and Spider's up to his neck in mayhem. When the Banni offer their protection to advance their own game, Colby begins to wonder: is love like artificial moonlight, seductive yet false? Or is it powerful and true, something for which he might risk everything...maybe even his life?

This is the beginning of what looks like an action-packed and exciting series about two men with secrets, different but equally dark pasts, and while both of them are gay, one of them is deeply in the closet and the other is a player. Even though both are members of a biker gang, they do not, at first or even second glance, look like a good match. But Diego and Colby are a better fit than they would ever admit. Coincidence brings them together and the action practically explodes as events push them closer than they’re comfortable with.
Diego has a physically rough history and still earns money for his motorcycle gang by participating in illegal fights. He is as tough as nails, and showing weakness in front of anyone is unthinkable. But Colby gets to him, and after saving his life in a bar brawl, Diego cannot walk away. Of course he makes it all about gang business, but I believe the “perks” of being around Colby have something to do with it as well.
Colby has an emotionally unstable background with a crazy mother and is unwilling to commit to any one man. He is still looking for his younger sister who vanished from his mother’s care when she was a child and Colby was living with his father. Colby’s best friend, Spider, is the leader of a rival motorcycle gang and Colby is the road captain. Colby’s father may have retreated from day-to-day gang business, but he is still able to get everyone in trouble. So much so that Colby needs protection – which comes from Diego. And the game is on!
If you like rough bikers and their dark lives, if you want to find out more about two men who seem like total opposites in every way yet are deeply attracted to each other, and if you’re looking for a read that contains action, mystery, and lots of hot man-on-man action without a mushy moment in sight, then you will probably like this novella.
