Book Blurb

Geologist Anders Thorpe has sworn off relationships with colleagues, after his last one ended in a dirty little game of sabotage. Six months later and he's preparing to camp and investigate a gold mine that might still be active. He's joined by Ujaruk an archaeologist who fights an inner battle with the fact that he's a native Aleut, and wondering if he'll ever find the perfect man.

Will Anders break his vow? Will Ujaruk find the right guy? Will they survive whatever is thrown their way?

Book Review

Alaska. A beautiful and harsh place to live. A state where once you leave any form of civilization, which truly only lies in the larger cities, it is man versus nature and oftentimes nature is clearly the winner. Anders and Ujaruk are both researchers at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, and they've been paired up on a project for the next thirty days. Anders has a doctorate in geology, Ujaruk's is in archeology, and they're heading to investigate an ore vein that Anders has found.

Anders moved to Alaska after his six-year relationship with his advisor ended, after he caught him trying to steal his dissertation and claim it as his own work. Ujaruk has recently come back to the college where he started his life after leaving his Aleutian island. Not many people know that Ujaruk is a native Aleut, and he likes to keep it that way. His college boyfriend hurt him in so many ways, one of them being the fact that Ujaruk is native.

As these two are getting to know each other better (and it's definitely insta), they experience more and more tremors. And I'm talking about the geological type, not the sexual energy type. Anders heads into the mine shaft to investigate what they both think is the serious improbability of someone actually mining down there, and a massive earthquake hits the area. I honestly can't reveal any more, or it would spoil it for someone else. *grins*

If you like the idea of two bumbling academics falling in love, and the outdoor dangers provided by Mother Nature, along with insta-love, then this might be the novella for you. It is a fun and entertaining read.
