Damon McTavish is a demon hunter. He's pretty damn good at the job, too. There's just one thing his boss wishes he wouldn't do -- sleep with the pretty ones before he sends them back to Hell.
Alisdair is an old demon who wants his humanity back and sleeping with Damon is how he plans to do it. First he has to convince Damon to participate in a little sex magic, though, so it's a good thing just a touch between the two is electrifying.
Can demon and demon hunter make a little magic and come out unsinged?
NOTE: This is a previously published work. Originally published in the Demon anthology.
Demon and demon hunter, now there's a pairing of unexpected opposites attracting. While it's hard to imagine it could ever work, after all, they're natural enemies, the idea of finding out how Damon, the hunter, and Alisdair, the demon, might pull it off had me wanting to read this short story and looking forward to the details. And I have to say, for it being only fourteen pages long, it packs a punch!
First, we have Damon. He isn’t exactly your run-of-the-mill average demon hunter, if there even is such a thing. From the first encounter with his boss, who reprimands him for sleeping with the demons he hunts "in the line of duty". I was fascinated with the guy. I was also very clear this is a humorous story, and the boss's fear that, one day, Damon would not be able to send the hunted demon to hell, might be warranted. Needless to say this is exactly what this story is about.
Second, along comes Alasdair, an ancient and very experienced demon who, unsurprisingly, is a little fed up with his "job" and wants his humanity back. All he needs is for Damon to perform some sex magick. How hard could that be? Well, as it turns out, plenty hard (pun intended), and as the two get going, among much joking and difficulty to stay on-task, the sparks really do fly!
If you like lots of humor with your serving of demonic sexiness, if you enjoy reading about men and demos finding a way to make a relationship work, and if you're looking for a read that is as hot as it is funny, then you will probably enjoy this short story. I'm still chuckling!
