How much can a Dom ask of his submissive? And how much of himself?

For Derek and Tyler, Dominance and submission have been part of their love right from the first hello. But now Derek wants his submissive to go as deep as he is physically and emotionally able to. During two days and two nights, there are no safety words and very few limits. This is their chance to demonstrate their love for one another through the most extreme scenes they’ve ever played.

There is, however, one rule to trump all others for Tyler—to protect Sir’s most loved possession, even if it means disobedience or going against his own need to submit to his Master without question or complaint.

This weekend will open up levels of their relationship they’ve never dreamed of before.

Reader Advisory: This book contains intense BDSM scenes, strong pain-play, mild humiliation, fisting, pet-play and mild sensual torment. Please be aware of the twenty-four-seven Total Power Exchange dynamic between those two men.

Book Review

The question this book focuses on, how much a Dom can ask of his sub, and how much of himself, is an interesting one. But what is equally important to remember is that this question is matched by its opposite as well: how much can a sub ask of his Dom, and how much is he willing to give of himself. D/s is a two-way street, after all. This book focuses on one possible answer, as given by Derek, the Dom, and Tyler, a sub who wants to go deeper into submission than they have gone so far in their relationship. This causes both men to reconsider who they are, and how they want to run their lives. The only thing they know for sure, and the one important premise I kept remembering as they followed their journey, is that they deeply love each other. And whatever else happens, whether they decide to go ahead with more deep submission sessions or not, that love (and their mutual safety) is the one thing neither of them is willing to sacrifice.

Tyler is curious to find out how far he can go in submitting to Derek. He feels a deep need to become completely owned, be his master’s slave, and as the weekend progresses, he struggles with that need psychologically as much as physically. The scenes Derek has prepared for them are not about Tyler enjoying what they do, instead, they are designed to figure out how much Tyler can focus on his Dom’s pleasure. Tyler has expressed a wish to find out what it is like to be Derek’s slave and to call him his master, but the reality is much harder than he expected.

Derek loves Tyler deeply, and would do anything to make him happy. He doesn’t have the need to have Derek as his slave, at least in play, but he finds getting Tyler there to be far more enjoyable than he expected. Derek may have started this weekend intending to give Tyler what he needs, but discovers he actually gets something out of it as well. During the entire time Derek is the one to keep things in perspective, to offer Tyler opportunities to go outside play so they can both make sure the next, more extreme step, is still what they both want.

This is definitely not a book for “beginners”. Some of the scenes are pretty intense, emotionally as much as physically, and you should know that before reading this book. The psychology is fascinating, and the underlying love clear, so I did not find this story to be in any way cruel. Derek and Tyler are clearly two consenting adults who trust each other enough to test each other’s limits. If that is what you’re looking for, or what you’re curious about, then this novel might be just for you.
