When short-tempered chef Ethan has an argument with his husband just before Christmas, how better to make it up than with a little Christmas spiciness?
Ethan is far from filled with Christmas cheer in the manic run up to Christmas. To add insult to injury, he’s laid low with a cold on the day he intended to do his Christmas shopping.
An allergic reaction to cold medication which he inadvertently takes sends his already frayed temper out of control, and he takes his fury out on his husband Lachlan.
The next day, racked with remorse and a large dose of guilt, Ethan faces Lachlan. When his husband is as loving and forgiving as always, Ethan determines to make things up to Lachlan. And how better than with a little Christmas spiciness?
The stress of preparing for Christmas can get to anyone, and when you add being sick and taking cold medication you’re allergic to, things can get really out of hand. And boy do things go wrong in ‘A Taste of Christmas Spice’! In this story, Ethan totally loses it not just with the employees in his and his husband’s restaurant, but also with Lachlan himself. It’s a shocking contrast to the love and dedication they show to each other before the “big explosion” and does not fit with the holiday mood at all.
Ethan is a bit short-tempered, but he loves Lachlan and they enjoy running their restaurant together. Both men get caught up in preparing for Christmas and it’s clear they have a great relationship, one in which things can get a little kinky on occasion. But there is a lot of stress getting everything ready so they can take a holiday, and when Ethan gets sick on top of everything else, I could see disaster approaching with giant steps. Making up after such an epic derailing is not easy, and Lachlan is not the vindictive type, but Ethan gives it his best shot. He has a few cool ideas and I enjoyed watching him set his plans into motion.
If you like your Christmas stories with some drama, if you enjoy realistic issues in your romance, and if you’re looking for a short, fun read with a lot of fighting and even more making up, then you might like this short story.
