Book Review

In the latest installment of Ryan's adventures as a male escort, he is faced with a true challenge in the form of a young client booked by his good friend William. Ryan accepted the assignment on the word of his friend, thinking the young man may be too shy to get his own date, only to discover that nothing could be further from the truth. His professional standards demand that he go through with the "date", but I suspect he has never regretted more that he is a man of his word and one with professional standards.

Ryan likes to be in control. Yes, he does what his clients wish him to do, but it is his choice as to whether he accepts them as customers or not. In this case, he trusted his friend William to be honest, but the reality of Trevor has nothing to do with what little William revealed. What is Ryan to do? He bites his tongue and goes ahead. I suspect that, had he l known exactly what was gong to happen he would have found a way to "develop a sudden illness" or "vanish off the planet", as he puts it.

The good news is that Trevor may think he won, and he did have the upper hand for a while (only because he is a cheat!), but Ryan gets his own back. In a most delicious way, I might add. But the agonizing he goes through before he manages to find his balance again made me realize that some of the tough aspects of being a male escort with standards are not necessarily what I'd expect.

If you're looking for another of Ryan's escapades as a male escort, if you like reading about bratty clients and young men who get their comeuppance, and if you're looking for a read that might make you gnash your teeth in frustration at Ryan's helplessness before grinning in relief, then you will probably enjoy this short story.
