Gregori and Juan have been dancing around each other since the fateful day when Juan gave his blood oath to Tristan Janick, and they were both swept up in the chaos that Tristan has brought to their worlds. But dangerous ghosts haunt Gregori and even the fierce, compelling Juan and the pull between them is not enough to override his desire to keep everyone safe by leaving the only place he wants to stay...

A New Beginning contains some explicit content. While Books 1 and 2 in the Sumeria's Son series (Twin Flames and Songs of the Earth) contain some world building elements that are not fully explored in this book, it is largely stand alone and can be read out of order with the rest of the series.

Book Review

While in the world of ‘Sumeria’s Sons’ the focus is on Tristan and his partner Ushna, there are some very interesting secondary characters, like Gregori and Juan, who clearly have a story of their own to tell. And that is exactly what this short book does: it focuses on Gregori and how he came to be with Tristan’s tribe, and the role Juan plays in keeping him there. I definitely recommend you read the fist two books of the ‘Sumeria’s Sons’ series before this short story; it is not a standalone and, anyway, you’d miss all the wonderful details of this extraordinary world Lexi Ander has built for the series.

Gregori is a fascinating guy. He is one of the most powerful Magi born in five hundred years, yet he is also a Lycan. All he wanted to be is a warrior, but when his magic was discovered, his father sent him to Magi College, sealing his fate. With all the corruption, infighting, and the various struggles for power between the various factions, it is easy for one man’s interests to be forgotten or, worse, ignored. Gregori has lost hope until he runs into the very stubborn and utterly determined Juan. I loved this little peek into their lives!

If you like the ‘Sumeria’s Sons’ series, if you want to find out more about the mysterious Gregori and the Lycan who adores him, and if you’re looking for a read that is as revealing of the past as it is filled with sexual tension, then you will probably like this short story. I think it’s a worthy spin-off/addition to the series!
