Book Blurb

Three years ago, Jory Harcourt changed his name and shut the door on a past full of pain, only to emerge stronger on the other side. He has a new career, a great working partner, and a satisfying life—except for the hole in his chest left behind when police Detective Sam Kage walked out with his heart.

Now Sam's back and he knows what he wants... and what he wants is Jory. Jory, who doesn't know if he can survive another break up or losing Sam to his dangerous job, resists returning to the arms of the only man he has ever truly loved. But when a serial killer with a score to settle targets Jory, he will have to decide if love is worth the danger as he tries to solve the case and keep Sam safe.

Book Review

This is book three in the 'A Matter of Time' series and it picks up three years after Jory was kidnapped, shot, and Sam decided, for the both of them, that it was better for him to leave and take an undercover position. So now, Jory and Dylan have their own business, his brother Dane just got married to Aja (Jory's second favorite woman), and on a Sunday evening at the hardware store Jory turns around and there's Sam. Jory wants nothing to do with the man who broke his heart and destroyed his world. But Sam is adamant and ruthless in trying to convince Jory why he's been back in town for a year but just now looking to reconnect.

Many of you are probably thinking there is no way you would ever take Sam back if you were Jory. Certainly not after all the pain, heartbreak, and broken promises anyway. Well, I've got to tell you, if I were Jory I would have felt the exact same way he did and even though I would have opened myself up to possible hurt again, I wouldn't have been able to stop. Because I think you only get one person who is your everything and you are theirs and that's too valuable to turn away. Sam and Jory were fated to be together from the moment they met and nothing is going to stop that.

This book was more about just Sam and Jory instead of also having external crime drama interwoven through the story. I loved it. I loved that they're back together and that even if it’s not perfect it's where they both need to be. I'm breathless with anticipation for the next book.

This book picks right up the following day from the end of book three. I really enjoy that because everything is so seamless and flows so beautifully. I loved this book in the series just as much as the three prior stories. It's a fun, hot, intriguing, and very sexy read with action, drama, and great sex.

Jory and Sam are back together when another murder occurs and it looks like there's a serial killer targeting men who look like Jory. Before they can wrap their minds around that, Dane and Aja come home from their honeymoon and Dane is so not happy that Sam is back. While they are arguing, Jory and Aja run out to grab food and Jory gets kidnapped, again, but this time by people who just want to ransom him back to Dane. Wow. Jory has the worst luck in the world. But then the murderer makes a huge mistake. He goes after Sam and Jory isn't about to sit still for that. So while Sam is recuperating in the hospital, Jory is tracking a serial killer and God help him if Jory finds him. Although if Jory isn't careful, his own loved ones are going to kill him for getting into so much trouble. The identity of the murderer comes as quite the shock and the betrayal is felt by everyone.

This book was all about family and all of the hope, fear, anger, laughter, grief and love that comes with it whether it's the family you were born into or the one you made yourself. I loved this book and I really loved the ending. It was sad and horrifying, funny and sexy, all at the same time.
