Book Review

If this were anything other than a shifter story, I’d have to fear for some poor jaguar’s freedom or even his pelt… but as it turns out, ‘A Jaguar for Christmas’ is a very entertaining story about a nature photographer named Jackson who needs a big cat shot for a calendar. The idea of him finding a shifter instead had me smiling from the moment I read the blurb… and finding out how the author was going to make this happen was as amusing as expected.

Jackson’s first encounter with his model-to-be is hilarious: the guy turns up in his kitchen at seven in the morning – butt naked. Yep, you read that right, the blond hunk named Peter does not wear a single stitch of clothing. To me the reason was glaringly obvious – shifter story, remember? – but Jackson takes a little longer to get it. Mind you, he does have a perfect excuse, in the form of a gorgeous guy, for his brain no longer working… As it turns out, shifters have started to make themselves known in this world and are quite the rage when animal pictures are needed. Just imagine having the “animal” be totally “tame”, respond to directions as to what pose you want, and be as patient as any human model? Must be a photographer’s dream.

It doesn’t take long for the two men to strike up a conversation, after the shoot, of course, and Jackson’s dislike of Christmas upsets Peter enough to want to do something about it. And what starts as a bit of fun between the sheets quickly turns into not just a better holiday season for Jackson than he has had in quite a few years, but might just be the beginning of more – for both men.

If you prefer your shifter stories to be both hot and funny, if you believe that nobody should be alone or sad during Christmas, and if you’re looking for an entertaining read about a Christmastime encounter that turns into more, then you might like this short story.
