One of my favorite books of all time is ‘The Stand’ by Stephen King. (I loved the miniseries as well but that had more to do with my crush on Gary Sinise than on the accuracy of the show.) Regardless, I’m fascinated by post-apocalyptic stories and movies.

When ambition and the need to do the right thing collide, the outcome is less than certain. As this entertaining yet thought-provoking story shows, “telling the truth” is not necessarily the best course of action, or maybe it is that the truth, much like beauty, lies in the eye of the beholder.

I originally read the first edition of this story in the anthology ‘Butt Ninjas from Hell’ and really enjoyed it. I was delighted when I discovered the author was rereleasing it with some added content. I adored Vik and Dillon the first time around so I had high hopes for this reread.

“For better or for worse” is not just part of the traditional wedding promise, it’s good guidance for any couple with issues in their relationship.

Sometimes building trust in a relationship is a real challenge, at least when you’re talking about real trust, the kind that goes deeper than trusting someone to be on time or to do as they promised.

I enjoyed this family-oriented, slice of life story, which reveals a startlingly realistic romance between a recently un-closeted movie producer and his sexy Latino male nanny.

The author certainly picked the correct title for this novella. In one moment, one blink in time, Joe and Kade are thrown completely for a loop and every single thing they thought they knew went upside down and sideways. I do so love a Mary Calmes story.

You’d think that demons and Christmas don’t really go well together, but ‘Old Christmas Magic’ makes a convincing case for the fact that this assumption might not always be true.

Best friends who are secretly – or not so secretly in Kade’s case - in love with each other can have a very difficult time of it.

One of my very favorite things about Dreamspinner’s annual Advent Calendar story set is the opportunity to experience new-to-me authors. Some of those have turned out to be well loved favorites and practically auto-buys.
